I am checking to see if there would be any interest among the CERT members on here, whether you would like to learn more about CERT Emergency Communications. As I envision this, it would probably be a 3 hour class, one session, to familiarize you with different types of communications that are available to us as CERT members, including Ham Radio, FRS, GMRS, and MURS operations. While you do NOT have to be an amateur radio operator to participate in this class, there will be a portion of the class dedicated to how to set up and operate in amateur radio emergency networks. If you have an interest in Emergency Communications, becoming an amateur radio operator by taking a separate amateur radio class is a suggested step in that direction.
There are no definite times or a location set up yet for this, I am only trying to establish if there is enough interest to attempt this. If I get at least 10 people interested, then I will pursue the next step, that of scheduling a time and place. Let your friends know if you talk to them about this class, and let me know here if you're interested, or send me an email at rslover@gmail.com.

I think it would be a great opportunity to introduce people to ham radio.
